Take that Giardia!

Amber kindly recommended a little hike up past Vivian park. We enjoyed the fall leaves and the cool refreshing water from Big Springs. Speaking of, I didn't get any giardia, did anybody else? For the record, Mom, we don't normally go around drinking straight out of the river. After a thorough and thoughtful investigation, we all decided the water was ok. Group think, quite possibly so, and yet, I was so hot and thirsty, I might have still had a sip despite our scientific conclusions.

Hills on fire (but thankfully not Boulder-style)

Attempting a girl picture before the sun went down.

Danny and Aly return to the wheat field where they took their some announcement pictures.

Amber & Danny looking all tan. Oh wait, they really are.

Where might this path lead? Ah, into a bunch of orange trees.

Thank you Archie for obliging me.

All done. You may want to zoom into this picture and look at how filthy Aly's and Amber's feet are. I was the only one to rinse off in the river post hike. Not a good idea. Water + dirt = muddy flip flops

The Baby Bear Goes for a Hike

I know I'm bad at posting, emailing, facebooking and all things that involve being on the computer more than the 40 hours/week I spend on it at work. However, to document Bryce's first flight from the nest, I'll post pictures of our hike in Colorado on his way out to BYU.

The Goal: Diamond Lake, elevation 11,178.

Official rest stop number one.

Lunch at the waterfall. For the record, the camera took 3 shots in a row on the timer and Bryce R. was the only one who literally didn't move a muscle. Nice work.

Archie, pointing out the finer points of the tour.

Mom braving uncharted territory. The worst was yet to come when we had to bushwhack some major foliage.

All in all, a fun time. Thanks Mom and the Bryces for a good excuse to play hooky.

Barnyard Chicken

I'm not a contibutor on the food blog and I don't know how to make it so that I am so I will be posting this on the family blog. This fine Sabbath Day I decided to recreate somethin Bishop K once cooked for me. I don't know how he did it so I improvized with tasty results.

Ingredients:

Chicken (tenderloins or breast, whichever you prefer)
Cheese (I used colby jack but I'm sure others would be equally delicious)
Salt, pepper, garlic powder (probably lemon juice if you have it, I didn't)
Bacon (1 slice per tenderloin or 2 per breast)
Head Country

Directions:

Marinate chicken in salt, pepper and garlic powder (and water/lemon juice) for a couple hours.
Cook chicken in skillet til it's done.
While chicken is cooking, microwave bacon and grate cheese.
Once all has been cooked remove chicken from heat, smother with cheese as you please then put bacon strips over the top. This makes the cheese nice and melty (covering with lid also help this nice effect). Drizzle Head Country over this and you have a tasty meal. Accompany with any sides you might desire.

No pictures due to lack of camera, but you can image what it might look like. Enjoy
